Protect that stone!

Spending lots of money on attractive stone work can make a real difference to the look of any extension or house but the stone that you so carefully chose will start to oxidise, weather and stain over a relatively short period of time. Particularly if its use as a floor, steps or a handrail.

The solution is to seal the stone with one of the many products that are available here.

The tin featured cost around 24 Euros and will treat 20 square meters of stone. Simply brushed on and taking 24 hours to cure it has a spirit/petrol like smell while it is drying. It’s important that you choose a product with a natural finish. Not high gloss unless you want your stone looking like it’s been varnished.

Clean the stone well with a brush before applying the sealer.

This is Portuguese Granite:

The part of the stone marked with an X is untreated.

You can see the difference when water is added
